Electoral College

I hate the Electoral College. Once again the vote of a *huge* number of American citizens were disregarded because they live in an area where more of their neighbors voted for the other guy. (And yes, I realize that essentially that's what is supposed to happen on a national level, but I don't like it functioning on a state level. Because that usually leads to most people in most states being ignored while attention is focused on the so-called "swing states". This year's campaign was a little different because the primary races ran so long.)

I see your point, really I do, but the swing states are where the votes need to turn the states from the way they voted the last election. If only we could just use the popular vote to decide the presidential election and use the electoral college as a tie- breaker...

I agree with that electoral votes as a tie-breaker thing. My Mom says it wasn't until the election before last when she finally figured out what the heck the electoral college REALLY meant. But this year My candidate won so I won't complain. But then again, I'm a cat, so I can't vote, which is totally unfair.

We had several calls on the electoral college (EC) yesterday - people were concerned about them (especially those 1st time voters). I'm not fond of the EC myself, but here's a good resource for you:
